Trust Your Intuition

Finding your purpose is not a linear process. It’s more like a cycle of various adjustments where you eventually get closer and closer to your ideal target. The most important is therefore to set yourself in motion and to TRUST YOUR INTUITION. Even though you are not entirely sure about where you want to end up, it’s definitely better to start acting now.

In my experience, and in the experience of all the successful people around me, the most important is to start. It is the crucial part of your quest to finding your life’s purpose. Because taking action, even in the “wrong” direction, is a lesson that steers you in the right direction afterwards.

Trust Your IntuitionLet’s look at how it happened for me. After high school – that’s 15 years ago – I was totally clueless regarding what I should do next. I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a living, and choosing a field of study was therefore an even greater challenge. The only certainty in my life at that time was that I wanted to travel. Well, travelling later turned out to be the most useful asset I developed in my mentorship career! Living in different cultures taught me to observe, to learn about others and myself. Knowing myself very well is now what allows me to fulfill my passion of helping others, but I had no clue about how things would unfold when I started. And I surely didn’t travel with the intention of knowing myself better.

A good place to start is to work with the very first intuitive answer that comes up when you think about your passions. The problem is that many people do it in reverse. We choose according to our existing circumstances while we should be choosing in function of what we want our circumstances to be. If your dream is to become an airplane pilot, but you don’t have the grades to get there, modify your path, not your dream! What if it costs you extra time and money to take private lessons if that’s what you need to get to your goal?

If you are at the very beginning of your search in finding your life’s purpose, you might not be aware of how to listen to your intuition. We all have the same intuition level, but listening to it is a skill that needs to be developed. When you consciously concentrate on listening to your feelings, you actually bring more awareness into them and you become conscious of them.

A good way I found is to start writing down what your intuition is telling you. When you start focusing on the little voice inside, you give it more importance and it will talk to you even more. If you write down theses messages, and go back in your journal and validate if your intuition was right or not, you will gain more confidence in your inner voice and will start listening to it even more!

It always amazes me how people know and believe in the importance of intuition in succeeding in your life and business but do not take action in developing this faculty. Sonia Choquette gives great advice on that! I read her book titled Trust Your Vibes: Secret Tools for Six-Sensory Living and it was very helpful! It’s a very practical guide, easy to digest with several steps ease to implement. I strongly recommend it!

Intuition versus ego

This morning, I finally let the anger out! After my morning run (which is great to let go of anything bothering my mind!) I started yelling and cursing at myself for not being financially responsible in the last year. All along, I thought I was following my intuition but I recently discovered that I was in fact following my ego. I spent all my money on nice hotels and restaurants and I had a GREAT time!! But now I have to watch every penny I spend to make sure I have enough until the next paycheck. So that brought up my eternal questioning about intuition versus ego.

I’m not totally disappointed in following my ego though. I see it as the “cost of learning”. Because, if I had never spent all that money, and had always “protected” myself from financial trouble, I would have never explored myself fully and known that the ego was hiding in my finances too!! So it all depends on your perception of things. I could see what I did last year as totally irresponsible and disastrous for my future and my credit score. But I choose to see it as a learning experience that allows me to know myself better. And there is just no price for that! Experiencing life SHOULD mean getting to know yourself better. KNOW THYSELF as it says on the Temple of Apollo at Delphi!

So what should I do in the future to prevent this? Or, should I even prevent this from happening again? How can I listen to my intuition better and detect when it is my ego talking? I’m not even sure if the question is relevant at all. Because, in the end, if you see everything as a learning experience, and that you enjoy your experiences all the way, then the question becomes obsolete! What matters is following the voice inside, be it your intuition versus ego, in the end, things will be alright IF YOU PERCEIVE THEM AS SUCH!! I love this quote from Wayne Dyer…
